Menuju Etihad Stadium

T-shirts were printed in a line of prayer that have been uttered a dozen years: “Bring Pearl Jam to Indonesia!”

After traveling as far as 5200 km from Jakarta, eventually the black T-shirts came to the end of the road, meets its destiny.

Verse Chorus Verse: Pearl Jam “Other Side”
I woke up this morning with a nagging headache and a healthy dose of apathy.  Through these wispy gray clouds, I somehow found myself feeling grateful.  I’m a strange mix of people.  I’ve always been a bit of a glass half-empty sort, and I sometimes wonder if that’s because I’ve always had the luxury of an undercurrent of blessings.  It’s not that I’ve never experienced sorrow or pain, but you don’t have to pull back very far to realize how easy I’ve had it.  I have a lot to be thankful for, yet I have to remind myself of that. Performers angry their music used in Guantanamo interrogations

Interrogators at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay liked to blast rock ‘n’ roll music at inmates to try to induce them to talk.

Now some of the folks that made that rock ‘n’ roll music are blasting back.

Trent Reznor, Tom Morello, Jackson Browne, T-Bone Burnett, Rosanne Cash, Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M., Pearl Jam and other musicians have joined the National Campaign to Close Guantanamo.

19 Candles

October 22, 2005

(Originally titled “15 Candles” in 2005, all references below have been updated)

It was nineteen years ago to the day, that half of Mother Love Bone, the guitarist from Shadow, a local drummer, and some random singer from San Diego convened on a stage for the very first time. They’d only known each other for days, and had been holed up together making up song after song. Now it was time to audition this singer – this “Eddie” guy – live. So at the last minute, they got themselves onto a bill at the Off Ramp. Someone had the foresight to videotape, and fans have been watching this show for well over a decade. (more…)
